Chinese Premier Li Keqiang Visits Italy: China Italy Fund launched

October 16 (www.ouliannews.com) - On the evening of October 14, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi met members of the China-Italy Entrepreneur Committee and entrepreneurs at the Barberini Palace in Rome. They attended  signing ceremonies for cooperation between China and Italy and met with Chinese and foreign journalists.


Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi attended the China Italy Science and Technology Innovation Week at the Polytechnic University of Milan on October 16. On that occasion, the Chinese Premier and the Italian Prime Minister witnessed the signing of an agreement by Mr. Xiao Wunan, Executive Vice Chairman of APECF, and Mr. Romiti, President of Italy-China Foundation, to launch the China Italy Fund.


The China Italy Fund was inaugurated in the background of improvement on Sino-Italian bilateral relations and the launching of "China Italy Center". On June 10, Italy's youngest Prime Minister Matteo Renzi visited China less than three months after his inauguration. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi attended the China Italy Economic and Trade Forum at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the afternoon of June 11, 2014 during which China's Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng and Italian Minister of Economic Development Federica Guidi witnessed the signing of an agreement to launch the China Italy Center.


On October 16, the China-Italy Science and Technology Innovation Week opened at the Polytechnic University of Milan. It was co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China and the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research. The Chinese Premier and the Italian Prime Minister attended the event and delivered speeches.


Attendees included Chinese and Italian science, technology and education officials, Mr. Xiao Wunan, Executive Vice Chairman of APECF, Mr. Romiti, President of Italy-China Foundation, Ms. Irene Pivetti, former President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and President of the Italy-China Friendship Association, more than 150 representatives from Chinese enterprises, universities and scientific research institutions and more than 300 Italian representatives, overseas Chinese representatives and Chinese companies including Zhu Jinliang, Zhao Huanqing, Zhu Gaoyu and other Chinese entrepreneurs in Milan.


Mr. Xiao Wunan, Executive Vice Chairman of APECF, and Mr. Romiti, President of the Italy-China Foundation, signed an agreement on behalf of both sides at the opening ceremony of the Innovation week, marking the official launch of the China Italy Fund.
