(Source: Ministry of Commerce website) A news conference on the signing ceremony regarding the launch of the China Italy Center -- an activity conducive to strengthening Sino-Italian economic exchanges and cooperation -- was held on June 12 in Beijing at the end of Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi’s visit.

Mr Xiao Wunan, Executive Vice Chairman of the Asia Pacific Exchange & Cooperation Foundation, told reporters that the center was co-launched by APECF and the Italy-China Foundation. The aim is to promote Sino-Italian economic and trade cooperation and exchanges as well as boost development of both countries, according to Mr Xiao Wunan.

Mr Xiao Wunan said Italy is China’s fifth biggest trading partner in Europe, while China is Italy’s biggest trading partner in Asia. The center will be a bridge between the two countries, host bilateral forums and build a multi-level, three-dimensional channel for dialogue and exchanges.
