The APECF attended High-Level Working Session of UNHABITAT upon invitation

Hosted by UNHABITAT, The 50th Session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development & The Urban Futures: NewMindsets North Meets South High-Level Working Session were held at the United Nations (“UN”) headquarter in New York on February 7, 2012. Ms. Cecilia Martinez, the Director of New York Office , the United Nations Human Settlements Programme of UNHABITAT, Mr. Abdulaziz Nassir Al-Nasser, the President of the UN General Assembly, Mr. Ertugrul Apakan, the permanent representative of Turkey in the UN, and Ms. Dianne Davis, the Founding President of ICCC, have attended the meeting.

Sir Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King, the Executive Chairman of the Rimbunan Hijau Group and Co-Chairman of APECF, and Mr. Xiao Wunan, the Executive Vice Chairman of the APECF, have attended the meeting upon invitation. In the meeting, Sir Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King and Mr. Xiao Wunan have given wonderful speeches with the themes of “Guizhou Changming Economic Development Zone” and “Metropolis prosperity: Ecology, Economy and Balance” respectively, and have been warmly welcomed. During the meeting, the UN Radio has interviewed Mr. Xiao Wunan. On February 8, Dr. Joan Clos, the Executive Director and Ms. Cecilia Martinez, the NY Office Director of UN Human Settlements Programme of UNHABITAT, have discussed constructively with Mr. Xiao Wunan. They have reached extensive consensus on further cooperation.
